Ethereum (ETH) to USD converter

Use the calculator above to convert Ethereum (ETH) into US dollars or another supported fiat currency. The ETH leg follows our live multi-exchange composite; fiat values use dated reference rates and are identified separately.

ETH to USD is the most searched Ethereum conversion. The rate here is our composite of every dollar-quoted ETH market we track, weighted by volume, so it sits in the middle of what the exchanges quote right now rather than on one venue's price.

Enter any amount above, including fractions of an ETH, or read the fixed amounts in the tables below. Both update with the live price.

How is the Ethereum conversion calculated?

We multiply the entered ETH amount by our current USD composite. For currencies other than USD, that result is multiplied by the displayed USD reference rate. Exchange fees, card charges, spreads and slippage are not included, so an actual buy or sale can settle at a different amount.

ETH to USD or ETH to USDT: is there a difference?

Usually a fraction of a cent per dollar. Most Ethereum volume trades against the stablecoins USDT and USDC, which are built to hold one US dollar, rather than against actual dollars.

Our composite includes USD, USDT, USDC and the other dollar stablecoins we track. If one lost its peg, its market would drift away from the rest and show up as cross-venue spread rather than quietly moving the average.

Converting gwei and small amounts of ETH

One ETH divides into a billion gwei, the unit wallets use for network fees. A fee of 50,000 gwei is 0.00005 ETH, which at $3,000 per ETH is 15 cents.

To convert gwei to dollars, divide by one billion and multiply by the ETH price. The converter accepts fractional ETH, so you can enter any gwei amount as a decimal.

What affects the ETH to USD rate

Supply and demand across the exchanges, and above all Bitcoin. In our hourly composite ETH moved with Bitcoin at a correlation of about 0.86 and about 1.4 times as far.

The 24-hour high, low and change above show how far the rate has moved today. The gap between exchanges shows how much the venues disagree right now.

What you actually receive when you sell ETH for dollars

The converter shows market value. What reaches your bank is that value minus the trading fee, any fiat withdrawal fee, and slippage on a large order.

Worked example: selling 2 ETH at $3,000 is worth $6,000. A 0.1 percent spot fee takes $6, leaving $5,994 before withdrawal charges. In our minute-by-minute measurement ETH prices differed between exchanges by about 0.028 percent, so choosing the venue with the lower fee usually matters more than choosing the higher price.

How much is 1 ETH worth?

One ETH is currently worth $2,246.32 on our composite. The value and both conversion tables update after the page loads when fresh composite prices arrive.

Ethereum converter questions

01How do I convert my ETH to USD?

Sell the ETH on an exchange for USD or a dollar stablecoin, then withdraw. The converter above shows what your ETH is worth at the current composite price; the amount that arrives is lower by the trading fee, any withdrawal fee and slippage.

02Can ETH hit $5000?

We do not forecast prices. For scale: $5,000 would be just above Ethereum's all-time high of about $4,950.

03Why is ETH falling now?

Fast falls are usually driven by leveraged positions being liquidated, which forces more selling. The funding rates on the Ethereum page show how crowded the leveraged side is right now.

04How much ETH can I buy for $1?

Divide $1 by the ETH price. At $3,000 per ETH, $1 buys about 0.00033 ETH before fees. Most exchanges set a minimum order above $1.

05How much is 1 ETH in USD?

The converter above shows the live value of 1 ETH, calculated from our composite across every exchange we track.
