Crypto trading signals
A usable signal is a testable trade hypothesis with market, direction, entry, invalidation, timestamp and risk. A coin name plus an arrow is marketing.

At minimum: venue and pair, spot or derivative, long or short, trigger condition, entry zone, invalidation, targets, timestamp and expiry. Position size should follow from risk rather than be copied blindly.
| Field | Why it is required |
|---|---|
| Pair and venue | Prices differ across markets |
| Trigger | Separates setup from active trade |
| Invalidation | Defines when the thesis is wrong |
| Timestamp | Prevents hindsight editing |
| Expiry | Stops stale setups firing later |
| Risk unit | Makes results comparable |
Which signal types exist?
Trend signals look for continuation, momentum signals measure acceleration, mean-reversion signals expect a return toward a reference, and breakout signals require price to leave a defined range. On-chain, sentiment and funding data can add context, but none replaces an exit rule.
Multiple indicators derived from the same price series are not necessarily independent confirmation. RSI, moving averages and MACD can all express overlapping information.
How should a provider be tested?
Collect every signal prospectively. Use the price available after publication, not the candle’s best point. Apply one written fill rule, include fees and slippage, keep expired and cancelled signals, and measure:
- expectancy per unit risk;
- win rate and average win/loss;
- maximum drawdown;
- time in market;
- performance by regime and venue.
A 75% win rate can lose money if the average loss is four times the average win.
What are the warning signs of a signal scam?
Guaranteed returns, fixed daily profit, deleted losing messages, screenshots without transaction history, pressure to deposit through an unknown platform and requests for seed phrases are decisive warnings. A provider should never need withdrawal permission or a wallet recovery phrase.
Affiliate relationships should be disclosed. Results should not change when a message is edited after the move.
Can AI improve signals?
AI can process more inputs, recognize patterns and summarise market state. It can also overfit historical noise, leak future data into a backtest and produce confident explanations for unstable correlations. Test it on unseen periods and include realistic latency.
The question is not whether AI created the alert. It is whether the rule survives costs and new data.
How should a trader use a signal?
Treat it as a candidate, not an instruction. Verify the market is liquid, compare the signal’s reference price with the current executable price, define the maximum dollar loss and reject it when the entry is stale. Read slippage and use the position-size calculator before translating an alert into an order.
Questions people actually ask
01What is the best crypto signal?
The best signal is one with a clear causal rule, timestamp, executable entry, invalidation and complete audited history. No indicator or provider is universally best.
02Can you make $100 a day trading crypto?
No legitimate signal can guarantee a fixed daily result. Dollar profit depends on capital and risk, and pursuing a daily quota often forces low-quality trades.
03Can AI give trading signals?
Yes, AI can classify data and generate rules or alerts. Its output still requires out-of-sample testing, execution-cost modelling and hard risk controls.
04Is signal trading illegal?
Following market alerts is not inherently illegal, but providers may be subject to financial-promotion, advisory or licensing rules depending on jurisdiction and conduct. Manipulation and undisclosed paid promotion can also violate rules.
