What is Arbitrum?

Arbitrum is a layer-two network for Ethereum: it runs transactions off the main chain, bundles them, and settles the result on Ethereum, which makes them much cheaper. ARB is its governance token. Network fees on Arbitrum are paid in ETH, not ARB. The total supply is 10 billion ARB.

How to buy Arbitrum, step by step

2. Create and verify your account. Regulated exchanges ask for identity documents before you can deposit fiat.
3. Fund the account. A bank transfer or a stablecoin deposit usually costs far less than a card payment.
4. Buy ARB. Use the ARB/USDT or ARB/USD market, and check the cheapest venue in the table above first.
5. Decide where to keep it. On the exchange is simplest, but the exchange then holds your coins. ARB exists on Arbitrum and on Ethereum; choose the network your wallet expects. To move tokens on Arbitrum you also need a little ETH for fees.

Why the Arbitrum price differs between exchanges

In our minute-by-minute measurement the gap between the highest and lowest venue averaged about 0.098 percent, against about 0.025 percent for Bitcoin. It went above half a percent in about 13 minutes out of every thousand, and reached about 2.1 percent at its widest.

What moves the Arbitrum price

The wider crypto market, and in ARB’s case its own news too. In our hourly composite, ARB moved with Bitcoin at a correlation of about 0.28, where 1 would mean identical moves, and its moves were about five times the size of Bitcoin’s.

ARB had one of the weakest links to Bitcoin of any coin we measured, and its hourly moves were about five times the size, so its own news dominates: governance decisions, token unlocks and leverage.
